He's handsome, reliable, and punctual-the perfect gentleman when you want him to be. But this dream man is Death's best agent-and now he's got more than his soul to lose ...

One act of mercy before dying was all it took to turn soldier David Anderson into a reaper-an immortal who guides souls-of-untimely-death into the afterlife. But the closer he gets to atoning for his mortal sin and finally escaping merciless Fate, the more he feels his own humanity slipping away for good.

Until he encounters Sarah Griffith. This skeptical scientist can't be influenced by his powers-even though she has an unsuspected talent for sensing the dead. And her honesty and irreverent sense of humor reignite his reason for living-and a passion he can't afford to feel. Now Fate has summoned David to make a devastating last harvest. And he'll break every hellishly-strict netherworld rule to save Sarah...and gamble on a choice even an immortal can't win.

A sweet and softer side to the dark Grim Reaper!

Blog Tour: Red and the Wolf by Laura Lee Nutt {Guest Post & Giveaway}

Welcome to my stop on the Red and the Wolf Blog Tour! Author Laura Lee Nutt is sharing a little of her writing process and also has a fabulous tour wide giveaway you don't want to miss. Now, let's get on to the good stuff...

Writing the Wolf Within
By Laura Lee Nutt

One of the challenges with writing any werewolf story, such as my new release, Red and the Wolf, is how to write the lupine aspects of characters cursed with lycanthropy and how to do it believably.

To complicate this issue, there are more werewolf varieties from a vast collection of legends, both old and modern, to choose from. Or do you come up with your own variety? One of my favorite book series, Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files, uses four types of werewolves (and one wolfwere). Whether Mr. Butcher could not contentedly narrow the choices down, a struggle I wholly sympathize with, or he was fascinated with how different werewolf types would interact in the same world, in the space of one book he represents a small example of the range lycanthropy can take. Whether slipping on a wolf’s skin to magically bring on the transformation or getting bitten, the choices are vast, and this is even before you decide how much of the monster should reside in the spirit of your werewolf. Who should be in charge and how much of the time, the man or the beast?

Character Interview with Sion from the Sons of Navarus series by Gabrielle Bisset

It's a pleasure to welcome author Gabrielle Bisset back to the blog today! Gabrielle is promoting her Sons of Navarus series in preparation for the release of Blood Prophecy, book four which releases this spring and sat down for a chat with one of her sexy Sons of Navarus vampires. Let see what he spills...

"Gabrielle Bisset chats with Sion from the Sons of Navarus"

Thanks for having me back here at Romancing the Dark Side! My PNR/UF characters love the dark, so it's the perfect place for me to have a sitdown with one of my Sons of Navarus vampires.

Gabrielle:  Please let me introduce everyone to Sion, one of the Sons of Navarus. Thanks for agreeing to talk with me tonight.

Sion: You are very welcome, Gabrielle. I think it's the least I can do since you're telling our story.

Gabrielle: Thank you! Alright, let's get this interview going. Would you tell the readers a little about you to start?

Sion: I'm a vampire turned in 1944. I'm German. I'm the Son who's more logical and mechanical than the rest of them.

Gabrielle:  Is Sion your given name?

Sion:  No. This is the name I took when I became vampire.

Gabrielle:  Why did you take a different name, unlike the other Sons?

Sion: (frowns) I'd prefer not to talk about that.

Gabrielle:  I apologize. I didn't mean to touch a nerve.

Sion: It's fine. It will all come out sooner or later, but for now, I'd rather not discuss it.

Blog Tour: Her Sweetest Downfall by Rebecca Hamilton {Guest Post + Giveaway}

Today I'm happy to be hosting a stop on Rebecca Hamilton's Her Sweetest Downfall Tour, hosted by Pure Textuality Blog Tours. Rebecca is sharing a bit about her world in her Forever Girl series and there's a giveaway too!

A Deeper Look at the CRUOR
By Rebecca Hamilton

Cruor—the Earth Elementals of the Forever Girl world—mirror vampires in many ways: they are immortals who die by sunlight, decapitation, or staking. Quite traditional indeed. No sparkles need apply. Their blood can heal injury and disease, and they can influence of humans by erasing or creating thoughts in their minds. Cruor are extremely fast and strong, but they are not the fastest Elementals.

The intention of the Cruor was to purify the darkness in this world by eliminating it and by creating other Cruor to help them. Instead, some Cruor harbored darkness of their own, and soon this darkness became more of a keystone than an anomaly.

The original Cruor were humans who were buried alive, then resurrected by the Universe to hunt the darkness that walked the earth. Over time, however, a new weakness was discovered: Narcissus. Narcissus—or, daffodil—is a plant known to ward off Cruor, as it weakens them immensely. This discovery was made many years ago, around the time the Universe first created Earth Elementals. Humans were leaving flowers on graves to cover the scent of decay, and this prevented the rise of the undead, leaving the Cruor who already walked the earth to rely on their ability to turn a human through the poison in their fangs.

Cocktail Society Book Club Review: Angel's Ink by Jocelynn Drake

Every month the ladies of the Cocktail Society Book Club (on Goodreads) select a read to review and discuss on the first Wednesday of each month. The host that month also choses a fabulous cocktail that compliments the book to go along with her review.

This month's book is Angel's Ink by Jocelynn Drake and I'm super excited to be hosting! Angel's Ink is the first book in the Asylum Tales series. It's a dark and gritty supernatural world with imperfect characters, magic and tattoos!  Our hero Gage is a practical "man's man" so I decided on a cocktail that I think he would enjoy after working a long shift at the Asylum.

Cocktail of the Month:

2 oz whiskey
½ oz fresh lemon juice
½ oz tsp sugar
1 cherry
½ lemon slice

Put all ingredients in mixing glass and add ice cubes. Strain into highball glass. Add lemon slice and cherry to garnish.

{Guest Post & Giveaway} Jennifer James talks books and her addiction to Sons of Anarchy

I'd like to welcome author Jennifer James to the blog today! Ms. James is sharing her latest paranormal romance release, Hunger Embraced and is dishing about her latest guilty pleasure...oh and did I mention there's a fabulous giveaway? Stick around and show Jennifer some love <3

Sons of Anarchy Has Taken Over My Brain!
By Jennifer James

Thank you for having me on Romancing the Dark Side today. I love talking about things in books and pop culture that get me excited. While I’m here to pimp my newest release in a shameless and entertaining way, I’m also here to chat and *hopefully* make some new friends. I mean, yeah, I love selling books. But I also love to get all goofy fan girl squee over tv shows, book series, and movies with other people.

What am I going squee about right now? Sons of Anarchy.

I realize that I’m late to the party on this one. I can’t claim total responsibility for that though. You see, I don’t have cable. And without cable, I don’t even have basic channels like 3, 5, and 8. Nada. Nothin’.  I’m dependent on Netflix or Hulu or Amazon for my shows. The good news is that Netflix finally has a lot of good content and not just weird foreign B-movies or Hollywood D-list junk.
