Character Interview with Ian Kerr
from The Darkest Day by Britt Bury
from The Darkest Day by Britt Bury
Hi everyone! I’m
Britt Bury, author of The Darkest Day and I’m here with Ian Kerr, immortal
Pookah warrior and Chief of the Kerr clan. We both want to thank Lori so much
for having us! Right, Ian?
Ian: *Sitting,
bouncing his knee and looking over his shoulder* “Aye. Can we move this along?”
Britt: *Sitting
across from Ian. Leans in and whispers harshly.* “Why are you being so grumpy?”
Ian: “You bloody
know why! I’ve got a god-damn Dark Prince Daughter in my dungeon and you pull
me away so I can chat about god-knows-what.”
Britt: “Hey! You
better watch yourself or I will write your life so miserable that you will be
wishing your book was never born.”
Ian: *Throws an
arm over the back of his chair and casually leans back.* “Threatening me, lass?
Gotta say I like the spark in ya. But nothing your sweet little mind can come
up with will compare to the torture ten-lifetimes has already put me through.”
Ian: *His grin
falls and he glares at Britt*
Britt: *Smiles* “That’s
what I thought. Now buck up, be a good Pookah, and answer some questions for
our interview please.
Ian: *Waves a
hand* “Let’s hear ‘em, lass.”
Britt: *Clears
throat* “Where were you born?”
Ian: *Rolls eyes
and crossed arms over chest* “Really? That’s what you want ta ask?”
Britt: “These
are just warm up questions.”
Ian: “I do no’
have time for this.”
Britt: “Well,
what do you want to talk about then, Ian?”
Ian: *Leans
forward, resting forearms on knees and leers at Britt* “I want ta know why the
hell there is a demon spawn of Satan in my keeping and I can no’ seem ta…get
rid of her.”
Britt: “You know
the answer to that already, Ian.”
Ian: *Mumbles* “Bloody
cryptic author. You’re as bad as Ryo.”
Britt: “You know
I love you, Ian. But your stubborn attitude is going to get you into a lot of
trouble.”
Ian: “Again with
the threats. Do no’ think I can’t weave pretty words too, lass. You may put the
pen ta paper, but I can be difficult, and you know it. You want ta meet your
deadlines don’t you? Suppose you’ll need the cooperation of your characters ta
make that happen, yes?”
Britt: *Huffs
and scowls back at Ian.* “My, my what an evil grin you have Mr. Kerr. Here I
was thinking you’ve lost your edge.”
Ian: “Throw
whatever you want at me, woman. You know I can handle it.” *Winks*
Britt: “Oh, no.
Don’t try to charm me.”
Ian: “I would no’
think of it. But tell me, what is it you have in store for all of us? Ryo’s
been saying that you intend to—”
Britt: “Ryo
needs to shut it.”
Ian: “You seem a
bit sensitive about this, lass?”
Britt: “This is
supposed to be your interview.”
Ian: *Looks at
watch.* “Well, you have time for one more question. I promised you five
minutes, now I need ta get back.”
Britt:
*Flustered. Flips through papers looking for a good question* “Ooh! Okay, here’s
one. Ian, what is the one thing you value above all else?”
Ian: *Jaw
clenches* “My clan, of course.”
Britt: *Smiles
wide and gives a sarcastic nod* “Of course…”
Ian: *Rises and
turns to leave*
Britt: “Thanks,
Ian.” *Calls after him as he walks away* “I’ll be seeing you real soon.”
Ian: *Looks over
shoulder* “You can bloody count on that, lass.”
That went better
than I had hoped! Sorry, Ian gets a bit cranky sometimes. Thank you so much
again for having us! We had so much fun!

ReplyDeleteThank you Erin :)
DeleteGreat interview. I love characters that are a little difficult and sarcastic. Ian seems to fit that roll perfectly. I can't wait to try this book.

Ian does fit that bill! He can be such a pain in the ass :) Thank you so much Danni :)
DeleteBritt, I finished the book this morning and I loved it. Does Ian get the next book? Alistair? Give a girl a hint? When does it come out?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Shelly :) Both Ian and Alistair have their own books :) However, neither of them will be book two, but one of them is book three ;) Book 2 is done and I will get the official release that soon. Thank you SO much!
DeleteIan definitely has me interested in reading this book. It sounds very good. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteThank you Tore :)
DeleteIan's snarky and has that accent that make my knees weak. Oooo, I can't wait to read this book!
ReplyDeleteThank you Molly :) Ian definitely has his snarky moments in the books, that's for sure :)
DeleteIan's accent got me first but his alpha attitude is a turn on too..must. read. book.
ReplyDeleteHehe, is it weird that Ian makes me blush? :)
DeleteThe concept along got me...it is very unusual that you see a book of this type where the female lead is the last human alive. It is usually reversed. Then add in the snarkiness and scottish accent and I'm hooked.
ReplyDeleteThank you Maria! :)
DeleteOH OH OH - that was just awesome! I simply love Ian and Kelvin and Ramsey!!! I want more - please!
ReplyDeleteThank you Erin :) There will be more :) You'll see a different side of Ramsey in book 2 and Ian has is own book as well.
DeleteI loved the interview and I got a good sense of his yummy accent! I'd love to win a copy..
