We all have urges.
All of us. Yes, you… you know you do. ;)
In my latest release, Hadyn Heat (Book One) – The Urge, I explore exactly that – urges. When my friend (Ava Michaels) and I started the idea for Hadyn Heat, we wanted to create the life like character, even though he’s a wolf as well as a human. We wanted to explore that ripe time in our lives when we hit maturity and things start to change, including our feelings and urges.
For Hadyn, part of his process and the rest of his pack is to learn how to deal with the urges so that they don’t conflict with any humans. The book goes into a story of what happens when urges take control…it usually ends in bloodshed.
Hadyn isn’t just a normal wolf. He’s big, strong, and sexy, like all the others, but something inside of him clicks one night with a woman who is miles away. He could smell her as though her hair is an inch from his nose. It’s in those first few seconds of catching her scent, does Hadyn make the decision that she is his mate.
Mating is important for the wolves and it’s usually decided a little later in life, after they enjoy themselves. Yes, throughout this book, there is always some sexual tension building and releasing, which just adds to the action. Face it, men and women both enjoy sex and action, right?
Ava and I had to have Hadyn go after his urge right at the beginning of the book. We don’t believe in fluff in our writing, so we went for action. For those who have read the book (and we thank you!), you know it opens with Hadyn, as a wolf, charging through the woods so fast, everything is a blur.
Even he himself doesn’t know how he’s charging so fast. Where does this charging take him? To a woman.
We couldn’t just make the book about sexual urges and fulfilling them – this is not that kind of book. Instead, we took the urge and made it somewhat of a flaw for Hadyn too. The urge is what makes Hadyn who he really is, but yet, in the background of it all, and evil man is planning to use that urge to satisfy his own urge. This is where we bring in the evil, terrible, horrible Valon.
Trust me, when you meet Valon, you’ll cringe. He’s deceptive but smart. He’s ugly but has an aura about him that makes you wonder. Everything about Valon is evil, but it’s also pure. He was a fun man to create, one who is complicated but still so evil you have to hate him.
As I said… we all have urges. No matter what. We have the urge to read, to write, to relax, among many others. But imagine if a single urge could overrun your life and as you chase it and take care of it, someone else is using that urge against you… with that said, welcome to Hadyn Heat! It’s a four book series written by myself and Ava Michaels. The first book which is rightfully titled The Urge is now available.
