Review: Archangel's Consort by Nalini Singh

Archangel's Consort
Author: Nalini Singh
{Guild Hunter Series ~ Book #3}
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Publisher: Berkley
Format: Mass Market Paperback, 324 pages
Buy it here: Amazon

Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Raphael, have returned home to New York only to face an uncompromising new evil…

A vampire has attacked a girls’ school—the assault one of sheer, vicious madness—and it is only the first act. Rampant bloodlust takes vampire after vampire, threatening to make the streets run with blood. Then Raphael himself begins to show signs of an uncontrolled rage, as inexplicable storms darken the city skyline and the earth itself shudders. The omens are suddenly terrifyingly clear.

An ancient and malevolent immortal is rising. The violent winds whisper her name: Caliane. She has returned to reclaim her son, Raphael. Only one thing stands in her way: Elena, the consort who must be destroyed…Elena and Raphael are truly a match made in heaven! Their relationship is really explored this time around and you get to see how much these two warriors have changed in the name of love. I couldn't get enough of their passionate love scenes! (Goodreads)

My Romancing Thoughts:

Being a newly made angel, Elena's vulnerability and need for constant vigilance from Raphael's Seven was a bit frustrating for me. I miss the warrior heroine I grew to love in Angel's Blood and sometimes feel she's more of a liability as an angel than she was as a human!

As much as I enjoyed this one, it didn't grab me like the previous books in the series, I felt it lacked the intensity of the previous books. This story was a bit slower but did pick up near the end. I'm hoping the next book brings back the action and suspense that made this one of my favorite series!

Review: Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning

Shadowfever
Author: Karen Marie Moning
{Fever Series ~ Book #5}
Genre: Urban Fantasy
Publisher: Delacorte PressFormat: Hardcover, 594 pages
Buy it here:

"Evil is a completely different creature, Mac.
Evil is bad that believes it's good."

MacKayla Lane was just a child when she and her sister, Alina were given up for adoption and banished from Ireland forever.

Twenty years later, Alina is dead and Mac has returned to the country that expelled them to hunt her sister's murderer. But after discovering that she descends from a bloodline both gifted and cursed, Mac is plunged into a secret history: an ancient conflict between humans and immortals that have lived concealed among us for thousands of years.

What follows is a shocking chain of events with devastating consequences, and now Mac struggles to cope with grief, while continuing her mission to acquire and control the Sinsar Dubh--a book of dark, forbidden magic scribed by the mythical Unseelie King that contains the power to create and destroy worlds.

In an epic battle between humans and Fae, the hunter becomes the hunted when the Sinsar Dubh turns on Mac, and begins mowing a deadly path through those she loves.

Who can she turn to? Who can she trust? Who is the woman that haunts her dreams? More importantly, who is Mac and what is the destiny she glimpses in the black and crimson designs of an ancient tarot card?

From the luxury of the Lord Master's penthouse, to the sordid depths of an Unseelie nightclub, from the erotic bed of her lover, to the terrifying bed of the Unseelie King, Mac's journey will force her to face the truth of her exile, and make a choice that will either save the world...or destroy it. (Goodreads)

My Romancing Thoughts:

A climactic finale to an unbelievable series! I was left heartbroken at the end of Dreamfever but Karen Marie Moning totally redeemed herself from her usual jaw-dropping cliffhangers with this one! Shadowfever is an emotional and thrilling ride I did not want to end!

We finally learn more about Mac's origin and the long awaited truth about her sister Alina's death. There's one revelation after another, some which are heart wrenching and others which are just totally unexpected and shocking! I thought Mac and her continuous lamenting hindered the book at times but it wasn't enough to keep me from devouring this final chapter in the series! The only expectation I had for this book was a little more romance between Mac and Barrons towards the end and unfortunately was left wanting. I was satisfied with their "happily ever after" and the way things turned out in the final chapters.

I can now say that n the end...after all of the secrets, betrayal, loss, blood, sweat and tears...

My Fever has been sated!!

My First Post...

So after reviewing tons of books on my favorite sites I've decided to give in and join the blogging world. This blog will be dedicated to one of my favorite things: books and everything relating to them! I do apologize in advance if I sometimes vent about daily life here as well!

Here's a little bit about me...
  • I'm a NYC girl who loves to read in my spare time
  • I've had a fascination with vampires and the supernatural since I was a kid
  • I'm a comulsive book buyer...I cannot enter a bookstore and leave empty handed
  • Paranormal romances have ruined me! I am addicted and try to branch out to other genres only to get sucked back in!
  • I hope to write my own paranormal romance novel someday
  • My Nook ereader has changed my life!

I'm sure I'll have some more random facts to share in future posts.

I'm really excited about this new journey and hope those who visit find my reviews insightful and fun. I try to keep them spoiler free because we all know: What's the fun in reading the book if you know everything that happens beforehand, right?
