"Waiting on" Wednesday: Summoning the Night

"Waiting on" Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're anxiously awaiting.

My pick for this Wednesday...

Summoning the Night by Jenn Bennett
{Arcadia Bell ~ Book #2}

Magick. Murder. Mayhem. It’s all in a night’s work. . . .

After narrowly escaping her fate as a sacrificial scapegoat, Arcadia Bell is back to normal. Or at least as ordinary as life can be for a renegade magician and owner of a tiki bar that caters to Earthbound demons. She’s gearing up for the busiest day of the year—Halloween—when a vengeful kidnapper paralyzes the community. The influential head of the local Hellfire Club taps Cady to track down the fiendish bogeyman, and now that she’s dating red-hot Lon Butler, the club’s wayward son, she can hardly say no.

Cady and Lon untangle a gruesome thirty-year trail of clues that points to danger for the club members’ children. But locating the person behind the terror will require some metaphysical help from Cady’s loyal bar patrons as well as her potent new Moonchild powers—and she’d better figure it out before the final victim disappears and her own darkest secret becomes her biggest enemy. (Goodreads)

Why I'm waiting:
I fell in love with the first book in the series' cover, Kindling the Moon and knew I had to read it (yes I can be a cover whore from time to time!). When I received a review copy I was ecstatic and the book definitely surpassed my expectations! Cady is a smart, sarcastic heroine with magical powers and a take charge attitude that will undoubtedly charm you, I loved her from the first page. I can't wait to see what new trouble she finds herself in and how her relationship with the sexy demonologist Lon turns out! Kindling of the Moon made it to my top fave urban fantasy books this year and I'm anxious to know what Ms. Bennett has in store with Summoning the Night!

What are you waiting on? Feel free to share in the comments!

  1. Fantastic choice!! I haven't heard of this series but you sure know how to hook a girl! hehe. Lon sounds like a dreamy character as well. Magic, Murder and Mayhem! What more could you want in a sequel! Cady definitely seems like my kind of heroine as well!
