US vs. UK {7} Lover Reborn

I know it's been a while but it's time for another US vs. UK Challenge!

This week I've decided to choose the most anxiously awaited book for next year on my list: Lover Reborn by J.R. Ward. I can't even begin to explain how impatient I've been to have this book in my hands and how torturous the wait has been.

Check out the covers below, the US cover on the left and the UK is on the right.

First, I have to say I'm usually partial to the US covers in this series. That being said, when I first saw the US cover I liked it but thought: "Wow, that's not what I pictured Torhment would look like." The US cover while true to the rest in the series seems out of place for me. If you know the character and what he's been through, you know he's in a dark place and just starting to come out of that frame of mind. The US cover is just a little too "light" for this book. I love that they didn't change the style but think they might have chosen a different color for the background. I do love the tattoo and the mist forming at the bottom that give it mystery.

After seeing the UK cover, I think it fits my image of Torh more than the US version. The UK cover also has a dark edge that suits the series a little more. The only thing I'd change on the UK cover would be the font, I just like the US font better. This cover embodies everything in one great package: the character's image, the book's setting and mood. Each cover has its merits but my winner this week is the UK version.

Total so far: US: 5, UK: 2

I've told you my winner, which cover do you like best? Let me know!

  1. I'd go with UK too. I'm not a fan of the orange, or the guy used for the model, not at all how I have him pictured. Neither guy used really is, but I like the darkness of the UK cover better.

  2. I don't really like either but I vote for US just because it fits with the other US covers. I would like it better if it was headless but that's just me. I prefer a body shot and no head on the covers. LOL

  3. I'm ashamed to admit that I haven't even started this series yet but the first book is in the mail so... SOON! I like the UK one better too.

  4. I don't like either model but would choose the UK version over the US. Sometimes, though rarely the Art Depts just miss it completely.
