Follow Friday {20}

Follow {my Book Blog} Friday is a weekly event hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This week's question:
Talk about the book that most changed or influenced your life (was it a book that turned you from an average to avid reader, did it help you deal with a particularly difficult situation, does it bring you comfort every time you read it?).

Wow...this is a profound question! I know you probably think I'm going to go Team Vampire on you and name a paranormal romance but if I had to choose one book for this question I'd have to go with Pride and Prejudice by the inspirational and gifted Ms. Jane Austen. Didn't see that one coming right?

It was my first true romance novel and who better than to write a romance but a woman...right? This book really drew me into the literary world as a teenager. I was so intrigued by the book I wanted to learn more about the author and found Ms. Austen's real-life story to be just as fascinating as her books. You've got to love a woman who breaks boundaries in a "man's world" and is fearless about it!

And of course there's also Mr. Darcy, who you want to smack one minute and swoon over the next. I always love a strong heroine and Elizabeth Bennett is one ballsy woman for her time! I've read Pride and Prejudice countless times and is without a doubt a book I turn to for comfort...especially when I know I'm guaranteed a happily ever after!

Which book has changed or influenced you? I'd love to know!

  3. I did go Team Vampire. LOL
    I've never read Pride and Prejudice. It's in that list of "made to read" books for me. And I never had to read it for school or college so I never picked it up.

  4. I love Pride & Prejudice...so much so that I read it once a year, just because. (Then I watch the A&E miniseries. Yay, Colin Firth!)
