US vs. UK {3}: The Map of Time

It's that time again: another US vs. UK challenge!

Ok, I can honeslty say that I'm now obsessed with steampunk novels! I haven't read one I didn't enjoy so I thought I'd choose something in this genre for this week's US vs. UK. My choice is The Map of Time by Felix J. Palma, it's on my wishlist and I can't wait to read it!

Check out the covers below, the US cover being on the left and the UK on the right.

This one is a little hard for me because the covers are so different from each other. At first glance I gravitate more to the US version. It seems to have a more mysterious and "steampunk" feel to it with the fading clockwork, whereas the UK version looks like a book I'd find in the young adult section. I love the man in the shadows and the fancy font for the title on the US cover. The UK version seems too colorful for a book with dark undertones. I think it would have worked better in an antique color vs. color. The US cover draws your attention with the dark colors, mystery man and bold title font.

I'm going to have to go with my neck of the woods this week and go with the US!
Total so far: US: 2, UK:1
Which would you choose as your favorite?

  1. I can't decide I like them both. I agree the UK version looks more YAish.

  2. US for this one! I have the ARC of The Map of Time and it's GORGEOUS! I can only imagine the final version. I love the mysteriousness of the man, the books in the background and the colors used. It LOOKS Steampunk, time travel, historical.
The red in the UK version throws me, but I do love the outer parts of it.
