A Dreamstalker— a creature that stalks and kills its victims in sleep. A fairy in law enforcement determined to stop him. A potions smuggler who possesses something she wants. A vampire with his own agenda. And a partner who couldn’t possibly be sexier or more frustrating.

Dulcie O’Neil is a fairy working in law enforcement for the Netherworld. When Knight Vander approaches her with a case regarding comatose victims, she agrees to help him, imagining the most difficult part will be combating her attraction to him.

But, what Dulcie isn’t betting on is the fact that the case becomes personal when she learns all the victims are somehow linked to her.

When her best friend falls victim to the Dreamstalker, Dulcie must do everything in her power to ensure her friend’s survival, including associating with criminals and accepting the fact that desperate times do definitely call for desperate measures. (Author's Website)

My Romancing Thoughts:

Just when you think her books can't possibly get any better...H.P. Mallory proves you wrong!

Dulcie is back and sassier than ever the second time around! When we left Dulcie in To Kill A Warlock, she had handed in her letter of resignation to the A.N.C. (Association of Netherworld Creatures), giving up being a law enforcement agent and off to pursue her career as a romance writer. Things are coming along just fine until the sexy Loki, Knight Vander, shows up to ask  Dulcie for help in a new case involving a Dreamstalker where victims end up in a comatose state. Dulcie agrees to work with Knight putting aside her intense attraction to him and soon learns that all of the victims have one thing in common...her. The case takes a more personal turn when her best friend, Sam, becomes the Dreamstalker's latest victim. To save her friend, Dulcie will have to venture into dark and sinister places, risking her own life along the way.

This was a non-stop thrill ride! The story is full of action from page one and keeps you engaged until the very last word. Dulcie has undoubtedly grown as a character from the first time I met her and I truly love seeing a softer side of her in this book. She's still the confident and feisty heroine but with a little less attitude and a lot more heart. Her devotion to her friend is admirable, any girl would be lucky to call her a friend.

The story wouldn't be complete without the hunky men of this series and H.P. Mallory does not disappoint. Bram, Knight and Quillan are hotter than ever, making it so hard to choose a favorite! Although they each have their charms, the chemistry between Knight and Dulcie is incomparable. There are a few steamy scenes between the two that are great but still not enough to satisfy me...stop teasing us H.P.!

A Tale of Two Goblins has an extra pinch of fairy dust that makes it that more special than the first book! There's more action, mystery and romance, along with the side-splitting humor that is H.P. Mallory's trademark. We learn a little more about our beloved characters while welcoming some interesting new ones. Was I expecting a cliffhanger? No...but I am anxiously looking forward to Dulcie's next adventure. If you're a lover of the paranormal and want a lighter and fun read without stepping away from the genre, look no further and definitely check out this series!

My Rating:

Quoteworthy:

"Tennyson was right when he’d said it was better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I’d loved and lost and I could honestly say it was better to let the assholes go and break some other dumb ass's heart than risk mine again."

" I wasn’t living in Utopia—I was living in Splendor which was about as nice as a troll’s asshole."

"It matters because I don’t like games. Mean what you say and say what you mean."
